Epic Wilderness and Leisure Kenya Safari

Overview

Embark on a 14-day Kenyan safari through Samburu, Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Lake Nakuru, the Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Amboseli National Park, ending with leisure at Voyager Beach Resort on the Indian Ocean. Enjoy multiple game drives across Kenya’s iconic wildlife regions, try to locate the Samburu Special Five, and see the Northern White Rhinos and chimpanzees at Ol Pejeta. The journey also includes a stop at Thomson’s Falls and sweeping views over the Great Rift Valley. In Amboseli, look out for large herds of elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro as a spectacular backdrop.

Itinerary

Day by day

1. 1

   Day 1

   Arrival in Kenya

   Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transfer to the Tamarind Hotel for an overnight rest and your safari briefing. Dinner and breakfast at the Tamarind.

2. 2

   Day 2

   Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve

   • Samburu

   After breakfast, drive north past Mt Kenya into the arid, rugged landscape of Samburu National Reserve, arriving for lunch at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

   Afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

3. 3

   Day 3

   Full-day game drive in Samburu

   After breakfast, enjoy an epic full-day game drive with a packed lunch to spot the Special Five, or Samburu Five: Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich and Grevy’s Zebra.

4. 4

   Day 4

   Drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy and evening safari

   After breakfast, drive from Samburu to Ol Pejeta Conservancy and check in for lunch. Go on an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Camp.

5. 5

   Day 5

   Northern White Rhinos and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary

   Morning game drive, breakfast, and a visit to the only two remaining Northern White Rhinos, a mother and daughter named Najin and Fatu. Lunch is followed by an evening visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Serena Camp.

   Day 6

   Thomson’s Falls and Lake Nakuru National Park

   • Lake Nakuru

   After breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park with a stop at Thomson’s Falls. Check in for lunch and enjoy an evening game drive along the lake. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

   Day 7

   Journey to the Masai Mara

   • Masai Mara

   Travel to the Masai Mara. An early morning game drive is followed by lunch and an evening game drive. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Ashnil Mara Camp.

   Day 8

   Full-day safari in the Masai Mara

   Depart after breakfast for a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara with picnic lunch boxes. Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Mara Camp.

   Day 9

   Great Rift Valley stop and check-in at Lake Naivasha

   After breakfast, drive to Lake Naivasha with a stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, arriving for lunch at Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge. Lunch, dinner and breakfast at Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge.

    Day 10

    Arrival at Amboseli and evening game drive

    • Amboseli

    Depart for Amboseli National Park, check in for lunch, and go on an evening game drive. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge.

    Day 11

    Full day of game drives in Amboseli

    Morning and evening game drives in Amboseli National Park. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge.

12. 12

    Day 12

    Journey to Voyager Beach Resort, Mombasa

    After breakfast, depart on a scenic road transfer to Mombasa and check in for lunch at Voyager Beach Resort, on the Indian Ocean. Relax on the white sand beach, enjoy the sea breeze and the resort’s pools. Dinner and overnight at Voyager Beach Resort.

    Day 13

    Leisure at Voyager Beach Resort

    A full day to unwind on the white sand beach, swim in the pools or take part in the resort’s optional water sports.

14. 14

    Day 14

    Departure from Mombasa

    Spend the final morning at leisure before your transfer to Moi International Airport in Mombasa for your flight home.
