Itinerary
The day
It is a unique journey that transitions from tracking wild predators at dawn to supporting globally recognized wildlife rehabilitation efforts by the afternoon.
06:00 – 06:15 | Hotel pick-up and park entry
- Get picked up from your hotel or residence in Nairobi.
- Head straight to Nairobi National Park as the gates open, to catch predators and wildlife during the coolest hours of the day.
06:30 – 10:15 | Morning game drive
Embark on a 3-hour game drive through open plains, acacia forests and river valleys: a wild game drive against a city skyline.
- The only national park in the world that borders a capital city, separated from the bustling streets by just an electric fence.
- Home to four of the Big Five (lions, leopards, buffaloes and rhinos), cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, jackals, serval cats and wildebeest, with over 400 species of birds.
- Offers the thrill of a real African safari with the bizarre, iconic contrast of a giraffe or rhino roaming in front of modern skyscrapers.
11:00 – 12:00 | Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Nursery
An up-close, emotional connection to elephant conservation.
- A globally renowned rescue and rehabilitation centre for orphaned baby elephants and rhinos.
- During a strict, intimate one-hour public window (11:00 to 12:00), you stand at a rope barrier to watch the keepers bottle-feed the calves their giant milk formulas.
- Beyond watching them play in mud baths, you hear the individual rescue story of each calf, making it a highly educational and emotional highlight focused on real-world anti-poaching impact.
Note: a visit to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Nursery must be booked at least three weeks before your visit.
12:30 – 14:30 | Giraffe Centre
Visit the conservation and breeding centre for the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe: an eye-to-eye interaction with endangered giants.
- The headquarters of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W.), dedicated to saving the rare Rothschild’s giraffe.
- An elevated wooden observation platform puts you at eye level with the giraffes, so you can hand-feed them pellets provided by the staff.
- Fun, highly interactive photo opportunities and a gentle nature-trail walk down to the Gogo River, a nice contrast to the vehicle-bound morning safari.
14:30 | Lunch
Restaurant options for lunch: Karen Blixen Coffee Garden, Talisman Restaurant, Acacia Tree Lodge or Cultiva Restaurant. After lunch we drop you back at your accommodation.
